FIRST NOVEL

entitled

World War ll, The FATEFUL MEETING in BALESTRAND

There was never a thought of writing a book or indeed whether I was capable of such a thing, as I only tended to read when on holiday. The idea came to me during lock down during the Covid Pandemic in 2020, having earlier lost both my parents, my thoughts taking me back over their years         together, and then how they first met. My mother was Norwegian and he the classic English gentleman and although this story is fictional, much of what is written is based on real-life events through personal experiences and information passed down through family.  Lilanna, my mother, loved England but was a teenager when the Germans invaded Norway in 1940 at the start       of the second world war, so that fact started my story about a young Norwegian girl in the grips of war whose focus was on staying alive while living amongst her Nazi captors.

An idea of the book's content as described by the Publisher:

World War ll, The Fateful Meeting in Balestrand, is a gripping tale of love and survival against a backdrop of Nazi-occupied Norway. Nineteen-year-old Kristina Neilsen's world is turned upside down when she witnesses the brutality of war first-hand. Amidst the chaos, she forms a forbidden                     connection with Jurgen, a German officer and doctor. As their love grows, Kristina faces unimaginable risks and consequences. Forced to flee to Sweden, she must navigate the perils of war while Jurgen grapples with his own moral dilemmas on the front lines. A powerful story of resilience and hope in the face of adversity.

Foot note:

As the fateful meeting unfolds so does the future into the 60's and beyond, with many twists torturing family and friends as they struggle with some devastating revelations all connected to the early war years.
